I'd like to know the Opponauts of the NYC area and Long Island! Please comment and say hello! Maybe we can organize a cars and coffee since NYC doesn't have one ANYWHERE. I'd love to meet all of you and your rides!

It's bullshit that C&C isn't ANYWHERE near here. Everyone else on oppo seems to go to them all the time.

I feel like NYC is one of the worst places for a car enthusiast. There's no real community out here. You gotta look deep to find them but they're mostly Honda boys or something. Nothing diverse and nothing from just a regular car community. At least the ones I've seen.
Edit: Even the the Honda type community is scarce in general.

I actually agree. The only car centered place I've ever been to in the area is the Bear Mountain car show, it's held every wednesday throughout the summer. Always a great turnout for classics and exotics. But that's it. If that's not going on, there's nothing.

Queens right here. From my house, I could walk to where that picture was taken! If you want to organize something, I'd be glad to help.

I'm in Manhattan. Also, you really don't have to go far for a C&C... There is one 10 mins from the GWB, and a really awesome one in southern CT.

It's not really necessary with the subway. Buy a bike instead. It's a lot cheaper. Motorcycle insurance is like 20% of what you'd pay for a car insurance, depending on the bike you can easily get 50-70 mpg, and you'll never be stuck in traffic again.

Yup, I know. Sometimes my parents have to run errands with their car and they'd love it if I could do them instead.
I'd love a bike, but then again they aren't completely necessary either. And my parents think all bikers are crazy and that biking is dangerous, which isn't true.

I'm in Forest Hills, born and raised. I'm not an douchebag though. (most of the time)

My parents thought the same thing. They care about you and don't want to see you get hurt, obviously. Once they see you're responsible about it, they'll get over their preconceived notions. People are afraid of things they aren't educated about — motorcycles, guns, etc. Learn how to drive a stick first (if you don't already know), then take an MSF class for about $350. That fee includes classroom and riding time on a closed course, along with your road test, which they give you upon completion of the class. Buy a used 250cc for about $2k-$2500 — you'll be able to resell for a couple hundred less once you've outgrown it.

Mathias Rios and I have also been working with MountainCommand to see if we can do another NY Metro area meetup.
Also, my ride is a 1986 porsche 944

Oh wow, I was at Ocean Beach last week for a little photo shoot and hooning at the parking lot with my friend! Didn't know they had meets there. Will definitely look out for that, thank you!
Edit: Wait, that's Ocean Beach right? I don't think I was in Ocean Beach.
Edit 2: No, I was at Robert Moses State Park.

Caffeine & Carburetors is in New Canaan, CT, about an an hour and change from the city up 95/Merritt Pkwy. It has gotten almost too big (300+ cars, a couple of thousand visitors) but the vars are awesome as you might expect from a very rich area with few options to exhibit your collections. Name a modern car and it is usually there (example - Astons are so common they are usually parked in back). The truly amazing cars are the classics, and you never know quite what will show up.

Although I'm in CT I'd go to an NYC meet-up in a heart-beat.
